      • Facts

The exchange is for a unique contemporary piece of jewelry and the final piece should reflect the level of artistic and technical work you show when applying to participate. It is meant as an exchange for a piece of jewelry of the highest quality, both technical and artistically. It doesn’t matter if your reason for participating is to get a piece of jewelry yourself or to show your work, what matters is that you give it your best effort and go into it with the intention of making  someone else really happy with the piece you make for them. This exchange is a chance of getting and giving a unique present, while at the same time showing your work and getting to know other artists in a field that is otherwise usually confined to ones own studio.   You will have 8 weeks to make your piece and then you have to ship it to your match, see more under deadlines...

      • Criteria’s for participating in The contemporary jewelry exchange:

(you have to live up to one or more of these categories) A:  Be a bench trained goldsmith or silversmith, or its equivalent. Meaning at least 4 years technical training in the field. B:  Have a bachelor, master or diploma in applied arts. C:  Be a student in one of the two previous mentioned categories and be a  minimum of two years into your education. D:  Be an established artist in The Jewelry field. Meaning that you already make contemporary jewelry and you probably have several exhibitions and solo shows behind you.

      • How To Apply

Your application should be one folder in Dropbox, containing everything in ONE FOLDER clearly labeled starting with YOUR NAME.    Example:    "OLGA RABEN TCJE 2016"   AT: Dropbox: loveoflemons@gmail.com IMPORTANT: 1: DON'T send your folder to me in dropbox, SHARE your folder with me, that way you can ad things to the folder, without sharing or sending it again. 2: DON'T share it again when you ad things, just send me an email telling me what you've changed, if I need to know. Otherwise I end up with double and triple and x times of folders from the same person. Here is the list of what should be in it: A:  a short letter telling about yourself and your educational background. B:  4 - 7 pictures of a variety of your work, at least one picture should be in the quality, size and dpi that’s asked for at the end of the exchange, so that you show that you will be able to send that in the end. The requirements for the final pictures are as following:     MINIMUM size: A5 - 300 dpi  (It's ok that it's bigger than A5 and more than 300 dpi)   Taken on a clean white background, think professional pictures in a book, no patterns, no fabric. If in doubt, look at the pictures from the current exchange. C:  Name the picture in the right size and dpi: “High resolution and your name”   Example:   "OLGARABEN-HIGH RESOLUTION" D:  Your contact information, Full name, address, email address, phone number, where you are from. Applications missing any of these things, or send somewhere else will not be considered.   For the few that can't make Dropbox work, you can email your application to: loveoflemons@gmail.com   BUT EVERYTHING goes in ONE email clearly labeled your name, tcje2015 and email application. (also proof of payment)   Example: "OLGA RABEN TCJE 2015 EMAIL APPLICATION"

      • How to submit your final pictures and text

You and your match has to submit all your pictures and text clearly labeled TOGETHER in ONE FOLDER in dropbox.   This means one of you have to send everything to the other person and then that person uploads it to my dropbox, you decide who it will be.   Your folder has to be CLEARLY labeled with both your names, first and last names and final submission. Example "Olga Raben & Nikki Couppee Final submission"   Every single picture and file has to be named what they are, example "Olga Raben portrait" "Olga Raben Piece" "Olga Raben Package"   And it's the file that has to be labeled, it's not good enough that you send me a list telling me what's in the different pictures, it has to be so that when I download the files, the names on the files I download are of what they are, not picture 1,2 & 3.   Your text needs to be in a document that can be opened in adobe and be copy/pasted by me directly as it is.   I will NOT be checking your text for errors and spelling mistakes, if English is not your first language, ask someone til help you. If English is your first language, still ask someone to help you, we all overlook things, it's only good to have someone proof read it.
